Now, Atkins nutritionist Colette Heimowitz has created a sample mean plan, like Kim’s, for Life & Style readers who are new mommies.
And it looks super delicious — and you can expect to lose two pounds a week without feeling hungry:
BREAKFAST: 2 egg omelet with cheese and spinach
SNACK NO. 1: Hummus with veggies (cucumber, red pepper, broccoli)
LUNCH: Grilled salmon, asparagus, side salad with creamy dressing
SSNACK NO. 2: Turkey and cheese roll-ups or Greek yogurt with slivered almonds and blueberriesDINNER: Chicken breast, broccoli, side salad with olive oil dressing
Kim Kardashian Reveals the Atkins Diet is the Secret to Her Weight Loss“On the leading low-carb eating plan, new moms can enjoy a delicious, whole foods rich diet,” Heimowitz tells Life & Style.This includes items like fish, lean meats, healthy fats like avocado, nuts and colorful vegetables filled with antioxidants and fiber. She explains that protein-packed foods like these are “essential for maintaining energy.”
The Atkins diet allows for about 25 percent more calories per day than a typical 1,200-calorie diet.
“This means nursing moms can safely and effectively lose weight as they are receiving adequate calories, protein and nutrients,” says Heimowitz. “For new moms who are nursing, we recommend they aim to lose no more than two pounds a week.”
Even if you aren’t a new mom, Heimowitz adds that the Atkins diet can be customized for any lifestyle.

“Atkins is about initially cutting back on carbs to the point that allows the body to burn fat,” she says. “Then, you gradually add them back into your diet to the point that allows weight maintenance.”
