Halloween’s come a little late for Heidi Klum this year.
After Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the east coast just days before Oct. 31, Heidi decided to postpone her annual party. And on Dec. 1, she finally got to show off her fabulous Cleopatra costume.
“I thought that I was a little ugly last year, which I loved, but I always like to change it up. I don’t always want to kind of look the same,” she told Life & Style at her Svedka Vodka and smartwater sponsored 2012 Haunted Holiday Party, benefiting the American Red Cross, on why she chose the outfit, adding, “I called [last year’s costume] the Visible Woman because you could visibly see where all the veins and muscles are…so I thought I want something really pretty and sparkly for a change.”

And in typical Heidi Halloween fashion, she went all out.
“Putting the outfit on only took five minutes, but gluing all these hundreds of stones on my face took a little longer,” she shares, adding, “It took maybe three hours to put my face on. It’s the face that took a long time because they’re all individually put on.”
The mom of Leni, 8, Henry, 7, Johan, 6, and Lou, 3, says her kids got a kick out of her ensemble.
“They have seen me in various crazy things,” the 39-year-old tells Life & Style. “I don’t want to say that they’re used to it, but you know, because I’ve been doing Halloween parties for so many years now and they’ve seen me wear different things, they think it’s fun.”

But it wasn’t just a party to celebrate; it was also to help Sandy victims.
“I did partner with Red Cross, with Patch and AOL,” she says. “New York and so many other people got affected by Sandy so I thought, I want to do the Halloween party and I want to combine it with what happened around Halloween. That’s why I looked for the right partners. I’ve been with the Red Cross for about eight years now and they’re great.”
