Don’t expect to see Chelsea Handler on the cover of Vogue anytime soon.
In a new interview, the outrageous and outspoken late night host reveals why she purposely ticked off the magazine's Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour, and despises all things fashion week.
On the subject of Vogue's annual Met Ball, she vows to never go again after being invited in 2012 [pictured above]. She attended with now ex-boyfriend André Balazs.
“I was like, ‘Why am I here?’” she says. “I didn’t have fun.”
Chelsea being Chelsea decided to do the unthinkable.
“I have no idea what the theme was, nor did I care. I know that I wore motorcycle boots under my Roland Mouret gown,” the funny lady reveals.
(The theme was “Impossible Conversations” between fashion designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada.)
“I think it was a Roland Mouret and Anna Wintour was like, ‘She cannot wear motorcycle boots.’ I’m like, ‘Well then I’ll wear them so I can guarantee never getting invited again.’”
And don't even get her started on fashion week!
“I’m interested in looking good for me, but I’m not interested in going to a fashion show. It’s not real,” she says.
The mastermind behind E!’s Chelsea Lately recalls a time she attended one of those events.
“I went once last year with a boyfriend. I was like, ‘This is the worst nightmare I could have ever been to.’ I was embarrassed to be there,” the 39-year-old shares in the new issue of Paper magazine.
And that’s where she differs from her famous friends like Sandra Bullock and Charlize Theron, who have both attended the shows in the past.
Speaking of her well-known pals, Chelsea also explains why she’s chummy with them in the first place.
“People are like, ‘Why are you friends with her and her and her?!’ I’m like, ‘You guys, I have a different person on my show every day,” she says.
“That’s how I date, that’s how I make friends.”
