On Christmas Eve, fans were bummed to learn that Janet Jackson needed to postpone her Unbreakable World Tour due to an undisclosed medical issue. But sources now say it's because doctors found a growth on the 49-year-old's vocal cords.
“It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately," a source close to the "Rhythm Nation" singer shares.

If the growth proves to be cancerous, it would be a devastating blow to her career. “God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again," Dr. Stuart Fischer, who doesn't treat the star, told Radar Online.
“Surgery would be very complex, and followed by months of radiation treatment,” he continued. “Singing would be impossible.”

When making the initial announcement, all Janet would say was, "I learned today from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring. Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time…There will be no further comment.”
But, the source adds, the Grammy winner will continue to put on a brave face. "Janet said she knows that with prayers and her will, she’ll be back out on the road in the spring or early summer," the insider says.
