We don’t blame Brittany Cartwright for turning to comfort food while dealing with the human hurricane that is Jax Taylor. However, since wrapping Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules, the couple, who had their share of mini-breakups and cheating scandals, are looking and feeling better thanks to some healthy weight loss.

“We’ve been great! We’ve been working out together, we go to our boot camps every morning, I’ve lost 30 pounds, she’s lost weight, she’s looking great, better than ever! She’s happy, she’s doing well,” Jax told In Touch last year following filming. “I think everyone in life sometimes goes through a slump. I was going through a slump too — I was heavy, I was fat, I was sitting around, sleeping in, eating — we both were. I just thought as a couple, it’s fun to do things together. It was more of a push to each other, you know? We can motivate each other, that’s all it was, and everyone was like, ‘Well, you did this and this and this.’ I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me? Just let me live!'”

Jax and Brittany in 2016 vs. 2018.

Earlier in the season, viewers accused Jax, 38, of fat-shaming Brittany, 29, for her love of Taco Bell and McDonald’s (we feel you, girl), but he reassured fans that he felt they both needed to change up their lifestyle. “Everyone made it seem like I was calling Brittany overweight,” he explained. “I wasn’t doing that. What I was saying was, ‘Brittany, both of us are getting kinda lazy.’ So I thought, you know what, let’s go to the gym, let’s get more active, let’s get out of this slump that we’re in.”

Today, the couple is focused on their relationship and ignoring the haters. “I understand when people say they’re wondering what am I doing, which I get that because I didn’t even think I wanted to be with Jax. It was a constant battle for me too. Sometimes I loved him so much. He was my very best friend. I couldn’t imagine not being around him. And then sometimes I hated him, couldn’t even look at him,” Brittany told The Daily Dish.

“It’s just a very confusing time and I just try to let people know, like, ‘Hey this is my relationship.’ I’m the one that’s going through it. If we end up not working out, we don’t work out. But I’m the one who’s gonna have to deal with [it], not these random strangers that’s never met either one of us.” Keep it up, guys!
