Jennifer Aniston cut off her long locks because she was looking for a change – nothing more, nothing less.
“She cut her hair. She just wanted something new and modern and wanted to cut her hair. That’s all,” says Jen’s longtime stylist and BFF, Chris McMillan.
Though photos surfaced of her short hair this week, McMillan says the magic took place last week at her home in LA.

“This one was a big cut so we did it at her house in the bathroom, just the two of us. It’s usually the best way,” he shares. “We cut it and took it slow. We knew we were going shorter. She was like, ‘OK, shorter. We’ve gone this far so let’s keep going.’ It was a collaboration between the two of us. Jen could possibly be a hairdresser. She’s that good. I’ve created a monster.”
In fact, Jen went into their meeting wanting something easier to manage.
Jennifer Aniston Debuts New Short Hair
"We'd been throwing around pictures. We sent each other pictures that we like. I call this a chewed-off bob. It's not precious. It's got lots of bits and ends and pieces. It's shorter in the back and longer in the front. She's really over blow-drying her hair. She wanted to towel dry and put some product in and leave it alone," says McMillan, adding that Jen, who's co-owner of the Living Proof hair care line, has been using the products daily.
But something else factored into Jen’s bold decision. During an exclusive interview with Elle U.K., the 44-year-old revealed she went ahead with the cut after her hair didn’t react well to a Brazilian blowout. “The minute I cut my hair I want it back. Always. It’s a guarantee,” she said. “I’m trying really hard to love this one.”

While it might take some time for her getting used to, McMillan says the ‘do reflects her laid-back personality.
"She likes to look natural and easy and effortless. She's a low-maintenance girl when it comes to her hair and makeup. She definitely takes time to get ready. But it doesn't take her an hour," he shares. "She does her makeup really quickly. She's got great skin, very healthy. She does lots of mascara. The most time she takes is figuring out which pair of jeans to wear and which jacket."
