After seven years of marriage and two and half years of dating, Jennifer Aniston announced her split from Justin Theroux last week. And while the Friends actress never expected to be single again, Jen is reportedly doing “okay” following her unexpected breakup — and turning to her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

“What’s surprising about her separation from Justin is that one of her greatest supporters is her first husband,” an insider told In Touch, noting that the Fury
actor, who is in the midst of a divorce from his wife Angelina Jolie, “turned out to be a true champion for Jen.”

Despite her second divorce, Jen, 49, has not given up on finding love again — even if “she isn’t a fan” of dating. “She hates all the media attention that she knows she will get now. But she is a big believer in falling in love and spending her life with a partner that loves sharing hers,” a source told People magazine. “She always found dating awkward and unpleasant.”

The couple announced their separation shortly after Valentine’s Day and reassured fans their split was “mutual and loving.” “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly,” said the statement from Jen’s publicist Stephen Huvane. “Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”

However, Life & Style recently reported that Jen and Justin reached a breaking point in their marriage, and were “leading separate lives.” The couple tried to salvage their relationship with a New Year’s trip to Mexico, but it was not enough. “They chose to go with friends during this particularly difficult time during their marriage. A week alone would’ve been too strained,” the source explained. “They felt it would be easier and more relaxed to have some friends come along.”
