Is Sugar Bear’s New Wife Jennifer Lamb Starting Her Own Weight Loss Journey on ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot’?
It sounds like Mama June Shannon might not be the only one with a dramatic slim-down in the family! After Season 1 of Mama June: From Not to Hot, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson‘s new wife Jennifer Lamb was considering undertaking her own weight loss journey, so will we see that unfold in Season 2? Here’s everything we know.
At the end of last season, Jen went to the doctor after complaining of “chest pains, being dizzy, and just not feeling right.” After stepping on the scale, Jennifer learned that she had reached 431 lbs, which surprised her. “Oh my God, I know that I’ve gained some weight, but c’mon — that’s a lot of weight,” she said. It didn’t take long for a doc to tell her that a lot of her pain probably stems from obesity, and that she should consider having the same weight loss surgery that her nemesis Mama June had.

Unfortunately, Jen didn’t love the idea. “I don’t believe in having surgery like June did just to lose weight. I’ve always said big is beautiful and I will always stand by that,” she insisted. However, she also realized how serious the stakes were. “I don’t want to look like June. I never would want to look like June, but if I keep doing what I’m doing now, I’m not guaranteed the next five years. Living with the weight on me could do more damage than having surgery,” she reasoned.
But fear that Sugar Bear wouldn’t like how she looked without the weight held her back. “He loves me the way I am, so that’s sort of what scares me too,” said Jennifer. “One thing I know: Mike don’t have nothing to do with no one that looks like June.” However, she definitely acknowleged that she needs to at the very least start eating better. “My joints, my knees, my hip. There’s days I can’t even function because they hurt so bad. I’m having chest pains, where you get out and you start walking and you can’t breathe. At 44 I shouldn’t be doing that,” she said.
So, has she made any changes in the time between filming seasons? It’s hard to tell, because Mike an Jen aren’t active on social media. However, in the special Redneck Romance episode that aired on June 6, Jen seems to look pretty much the same while riding on a tractor with Sugar Bear. That may have been filmed some time ago, so we’ll just have to tune into the new season of Mama June: From Not To Hot on Fridays at 9/8c on WeTV to see if she’ll be working toward a transformation!
