Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is going from the Jersey Shore to court. Life & Style can exclusively reveal that the 24-year-old reality star is being sued for defamation.
He's already been charged with one count of third-degree assault -- and could face up to five years in prison if convicted -- for knocking fellow Jersey Shore reveler Stephen Izzo unconscious on camera during a season 1 episode of his hit show. Now Izzo plans to slap Ronnie with a civil suit to boot.
Izzo's attorney, Eugene M. La Vergne, tells Life & Style exclusively that the suit against Ronnie and his manager, Matt Cohen, stems from quotes that Cohen gave to TMZ, claiming that his client picked a fight with Ronnie to get on TV. "Izzo is a criminal victim," La Vergne tells Life & Style. "Ronnie and his manager are just making stuff up. We intend on serving them imminently."
In the meantime, La Vergne suggests Ronnie start packing his bags for jail since the raw Jersey Shore footage featuring Ronnie punching Izzo is currently in prosecutors' hands. "The criminal charges against Ronnie are not going to be that hard to prove. There's only something like 24 million witnesses to the video, and him bragging about it on video," says La Vergne. "When you're in as much civil and criminal trouble as he is, there are things you can do to try and get your way out of it -- he's pretty much doing everything to make it worse. He's an idiot who shows no remorse. So he better pack his toothbrush now. They're looking to put this guy in jail!"
In response, Ronnie's manager told Life & Style, "As far as I know neither my client nor I have been served with any legal documents regarding any civil suits."
