John Mayer is a changed man.
The singer-songwriter made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Tuesday, where he confirmed his split from Katy Perry.
"Correct,” he said in response to Ellen’s statement about the pair no longer being together.

But unlike his former ways — he has publicly discussed his relationships with his famous exes such as Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston — John has turned over a new leaf.
“It was a very private relationship going in. It was a private relationship during, and it’s a private relationship still,” he said about Katy.
He continues, “I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given. But I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other. I've been much happier since then. I'm on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing."
It seems his relationship with the pop star really did change his views on airing personal details.
"For the first time in my life I don’t feel like I’m in a celebrity relationship…for me it feels like something that’s very human,” he said about dating Katy earlier this year. And in February, he admitted he was a “jerk” for disclosing information about his exes.

After a brief split over the summer, John and Katy revved up their romance for a second time. The duo called it quits for good in March.
Aside from his relationship status, the musician also discussed his recent throat injury that resulted in two surgeries.
“Half of it [was acid reflux], half of it is overuse and singing and singing and singing. The other stuff is, you know, what you put into your body,” explains John, who’s only performed one set in the last two years. “And, I’m getting to that age now your body doesn’t just shake everything off, and it didn’t help that I really loved, loved, loved scotch. It’s just like applying poison to your body.”
Luckily for John, he’s recovered and is set to begin touring this summer.
