Is John Mayer sending his ex Katy Perry a message?

That’s what fans think thanks to his new single, “Still Feel Like Your Man.” The song, which is off his new album The Search for Everything, is about a man who can’t get over his ex, even if they have moved on themselves.

“I still keep your shampoo in my shower, in case you wanna wash your hair,” John sings in the ballad. “And I know that you probably found yourself someone somewhere/ But I do not really care, cause as long as it is there.”

John, 39, and Katy, 32, dated for two years on and off, until their final split in 2014. The couple even sang a duet together called, “Who You Love.”

“He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting,” she told Billboard magazine. “I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I actually got to kiss him.”

Today, Katy is happily dating Hollywood star Orlando Bloom, who was previously married to model Miranda Kerr.

This wouldn’t be the first song John has written about an ex. His first single, “Your Body is a Wonderland” was rumored to be about his ex, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and he penned “Paper Doll” as a response to ex Taylor Swift‘s breakup ballad.

After Taylor wrote “Dear John,” John opened up to Rolling Stone magazine in 2012 about the song, saying, “It made me feel terrible. Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

However, he is not completely against his exes writing songs about him.

“That’s what you’re supposed to do, man, you’re supposed to write songs, John said in the past. “You’re just not supposed to tell everybody you’re doing it.”
