Jay Pharoah must’ve missed the memo that Kanye West really does not like being made fun of.
Like, was he sleeping during the epic Kanye/Jimmy Kimmel feud of 2013?! Clearly the rapper takes himself—his music and his image—very, very seriously. So it’s no surprise that Kim Kardashian’s husband was less than impressed with the Saturday Night Live comedian’s impersonation of him at the MTV Video Music Awards.

At the Made in America music festival, held over Labor Day Weekend, the “Yeezus” rapper addressed the spoof and told his fans what he really thought of it!
“They want to make a joke out of how hard we work,” the 37-year-old told the crowd.
“It’s fine and all funny and everything, but don’t distract from our vision. It’s not a joke what we do up here. This music that we do is not a joke. What we do culturally is not a joke.”
Kanye West is Rob Kardashian's "Biggest Cheerleader" as he Struggles With Depression
Kanye went on to say he called Jay after the VMAs to let him know how he felt about the performance.
“I called Jay Pharoah right after the MTV awards,” he told the crowd.
“I said, ‘I appreciate your show, but let me tell you a story about my story. Let me tell you about what I went through to get to that position’ … So we ain’t gonna have no black comedians going onstage spoofing the people that’s working hard, and helping the next man out.”
During Jay’s bit as Kanye, he poked fun at the rapper’s ego (saying “They asked me to come out here and tell y’all about the artists to watch. But there’s really only one artist to watch—Me!”), and his relationship with Kim and their daughter, North (“We’re so next level we named our daughter North West after an airline that no longer exists!”).
And based on his Made in America rant, it was the shots aimed at his personal life that the rapper took the biggest issue with.
“For me to be in a very publicized interracial relationship is not a joke,” Kanye told the crowd.
“It’s something that should be treated with respect ‘cause we’re all in this together.”
