Katy Perry is living single and leaning on her pals.
An eyewitness tells Life & Style the “Dark Horse” songstress was spotted spending some quality time with two close friends — a guy and a girl — at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood March 9 following her split from on-and-off boyfriend John Mayer.
But the beauty wasn’t her usual chipper self.
“She actually looked really sad and down in the dumps,” the onlooker tells Life & Style. “The perfect picture of someone who is going through a bad breakup.”

Wearing an over-sized gray sweater with matching Uggs, the somber 29-year-old went to great lengths to go unnoticed.
“It was clear she didn’t want to be recognized. She wore a black beanie and pulled it down low on her face,” the eyewitness spills. “Her friends looked like they were there to comfort her.”
The observer notes, “They were deep in conversation for a little while. I saw them hug and part ways — and she didn’t smile once! She just looked very sad.”
Shortly after splitting from the 36-year-old crooner for the third time two weeks ago, the brunette bombshell flew to Australia to promote her latest work.

While on the country’s popular talk show Sunrise, she refused to acknowledge news of the split.
When asked whether or not she had a boyfriend, she said, “All of my fans are my boyfriend.”
Meanwhile back in America, John praised Katy for work ethic.
“She’s extremely driven and extremely serous about doing great work,” he said during an interview on Sirius Radio.
He also offered up his belief on why women tend to get back with their exes – perhaps hinting at a possible reconciliation between the pair?
“It is a connection to the past, a reaction to the fear of the unknown,” he shared.
“They go back with a guy they don’t like just because they know how to get to his bathroom in the dark.”
John Mayer Opens Up About Katy Perry Post-Split
Prior to their split, Katy raved about dating the singer-songwriter.
“He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting,” she gushed.
She also couldn’t help but share her admiration for the “Gravity” singer, with whom she collaborated on his latest track “Who You Love”, at the MTV Video Music Awards last August.
“I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I got to actually kiss him,” the “Roar” songstress said. “But I’ve been such a fan, I think he’s so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter. So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural.”
Katy and John began seeing each other in August 2012. They split briefly, got back together, and then called it off again last March. They gave it a go once more two months later.
