How does Kendra Wilkinson stay on top? A little fake marital drama definitely helps! The former Playboy playmate is manufacturing marriage problems with husband Hank Baskett to boost ratings on her reality TV show.

“Kendra is faking a marriage crisis in order to get WEtv to commit to a seventh season of Kendra on Top,” an insider told Life & Style exclusively. Kendra cryptically tweeted “2018 has been so far the hardest start to a year in my life,” last month and Hank has been noticeably absent from her social media accounts — all in an effort to keep the cameras rolling.

“She’s pretty much creating relationship problems with Hank to drum up interest and get them to renew the show,” the insider added. “In reality, the marriage is fine.” Ratings for the WEtv series averaged around 350,000 viewers last season, compared to the seven million it was garnering in 2012. Now Kendra “is pulling out all the stops,” the source said, “to get another season.”

It also doesn’t help that ratings spiked during Hank’s cheating scandal involving a transgender model in 2014. However, Kendra, who shares son Hank Jr., 8, and three-year-old daughter Alijah with the former football star, previously admitted that the affair only strengthened their relationship.

“Hank and I went through a huge marriage crisis… Now looking back, it’s something that we needed to go through to get to where we’re at now,” she told Fox News following the couple’s appearance on Marriage Boot Camp. “I’m very strong and faithful and I know everything is going to be OK at the end of the day. I’ve been through it all. Everything that you’ve imagined.”

Kendra has denied the allegations on Instagram, writing, “These issues Hank n [sic] I are having in our home, which we are tryin [sic] to hard to overcome, everyone knows about, including producers and network, friends and family. My job is reality TV and I love my job… unfortunately these issues at home are affecting my decisions cuz [sic] the last thing I want to do is hurt Hank.”
