Tristan Thompson Is an Absentee Father to His Son Prince, Sources Claim
Although Khloé Kardashian has gotten a lot of flak from fans and her family for her decision to forgive Tristan Thompson for his various cheating scandals, the issue still remains of how attentive a father he is. After all, the KUWTK star began dating the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player in 2016 when his (arguably) ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig was pregnant with his baby. And Jordan seems to be taking care of their baby, 17-month-old Prince, all on her own, a source close to her tells Hollywood Life.
“Tristan is pretty much an absent father, although he regularly pays his child support, that is something he can’t be faulted for. But when it comes to parenting of his son, it’s pretty much all on Jordan. Of course Jordan wishes Tristan was more present in Prince’s life, but it is what it is. Jordan accepts that it’s all about Tristan and that basically he’s like a big kid, so she really can’t expect too much more from him really,” the source explains.
His lack of involvement shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who are closely following the 27-year-old; he almost seemed to even justify not playing as large a role in his Prince’s life because of the baby’s gender in an interview with Allie Clifton on the Road Trippin’ podcast on May 8, when he claimed it’s easier to feel a closer bond with his daughter True, than with his son Prince.
“With a boy, it’s just like, ‘Hey man, you’ll be all right man. Stop crying,’” he said.“But [with True], it’s like, ‘True, it’s gonna be okay. You know, we’re right here. Daddy’s here to feed you. It’s me! Look, yeah!’ It’s way different, but it’s fun, though. It changes you.” Oh, dear. So much for modern views about gender equality!
Jordan is apparently resigned to the fact that Tristan “is like a big kid,” and she’s essentially broadcast on social media that she’s going it alone as a mother. On Mother’s Day, she posted a picture of herself on Instagram with her adorable son in a huge play castle, saying that she puts him first.
“I’ve been meticulously designing your Castle Playroom since I found out you were going to be a baby boy, while you were still living in mommy’s tummy!” she wrote. “I am ecstatic that you love it and that it is up to par, meeting your standards being the little prince that you are!” This public message to Prince was no doubt a message to Tristan, too.
Whether busy Tristan ends up being a more present father to True remains to be seen. It doesn’t look promising that Khloé Kardashian also spent Mother’s Day alone. For now that Khloé’s decision to remain with Tristan seems to be coming more from ther heart than her head. In a recent — since deleted — Instagram post, without naming Tristan, she posted the following message: “It’s all about who you look for in a crowded room. That’s where your heart belongs to.”
