Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Split, Kim “Tried To Protect” Him
Kim Kardashian is hoping for a swift divorce from her husband, Kanye West.
The 36-year-old reality TV star has already met with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser — though it’s unknown whether Laura will represent Kim — and is making moves to leave the 39-year-old hip hop star after only two years of marriage. Life & Style exclusively reports that Kim is making this decision with a heavy heart — the marriage is not what she expected and she has given up on trying to save Kanye from his own destructive behavior.
“Kim has tried to protect Kanye from himself for years, but she can no longer do it,” says the insider.
The KUWTK star has stood by her husband throughout many of his stunts, including his lengthy Twitter rant against his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose, and she even defended him during his feud with pop star Taylor Swift. But in the weeks following the “Famous” rapper’s breakdown and mental health issues, a split is inevitable and Kim feels that she is making the right decision for her family. Sources say that even though Kim believed Kanye was her soulmate, she’s ready to move on from him and she’s focusing on the well being of her two children — three-year-old North and one-year-old Saint — whom she shares with Kanye.
In the impending divorce, Kim is seeking sole custody of North and Saint, In Touch reports. Even though she thinks that Kanye is not stable enough to share custody of their little ones, sources say that doesn’t mean she plans to keep them away from their father.
“She does want Kanye to be a part of their lives,” the insider tells In Touch.
