In April, Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s son Kash, 5, was bitten in the face by a dog, nearly blinding him in one eye and landing him in the hospital for four days. She kept quiet about whose dog was responsible for the attack, but now that she’s admitted it was her own pet, Sinn — and dropped the bombshell that she’s keeping the dog — Kim’s dad blasted the decision to In Touch.

“If I had a dog that attacked one of my children, it would be gone,” Joe Zolciak said of the husky-boxer mix the family rescued three years ago. If she and Kim’s husband Kroy, 32, “want to keep the dog that bit my grandson in the face, then shame on them! You don’t know if it’s going to happen again.” Kim took to social media to respond to her father’s claims. She confessed that she hasn’t seen her parents in years and slammed them for criticizing her parenting. Watch the video below to see the vicious tweet!

Kim’s Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Shereé Whitfield thinks everyone needs to cut the mom-of-six some slack. “I’m sure it was a hard, long thought out decision to keep the dog,” Shereé tells In Touch. “Only Kim and her family know the dog’s normal temperament and behavioral patterns, and obviously they feel comfortable. She and her husband know better than anyone what’s good for their family.”

There are no words to describe the episode tomorrow night of Don't Be Tardy ✨NEW TIME 9pm EST✨ Kroy and I after a few tough days and many conversations decided to share our story about Kash and the dog bite. Im sick to my stomach and my eyes are full of tears as I try to even write this.. the sole purpose we did share this was to raise awareness that this can happen to ANYONE! I'll never forget Kash's plastic surgeon a few weeks after the bite/ and Kash's surgery, He looked me square in my eyes and said, "You guys know how blessed you are (it was less than a millimeter from his eye ball (his waterline was sliced in half) and you have the platform to raise awareness and I hope you do!" Well Dr Williams you best believe we willl!!! Kash has healed incredibly and we are so grateful for Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, Dr Joseph Williams, Dr Jerry Berland from the Thomas Eye Group, Truly Original Entertainment, Bravo, all of our family and friends, film crew, Kash's school, @simonourianmd1 (he calmed me for weeks) every tweet, every comment and every PRAYER! We truly don't know what we would of done without you! I will NOT be doing IG or FB live tomorrow night, but I will be back on next week. Thank you guys so much for all your support. ❤️ P.S My Kashew is the strongest little boy I know!

Kim, who has four other rescue dogs, is keeping Sinn. “We love Sinn, he’s part of our family,” the reality star has said, adding that she spoke with dog behavioral specialists, child psychologists, and dog bite survivors before making her decision.
