Actress and famous Scientologist Kirstie Alley is receiving major backlash for her comments surrounding the Las Vegas shooting. Less than one day after 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire, killing over 50 people and injuring hundreds, Kirstie made a controversial claim regarding why she believed the shooting happened in the first place. Watch the video below to see what she said:

The 66-year-old followed up her tweet with condolences. “Good night… I’m so sorry for those who have lost people they love and are suffering,” she wrote. “Too much suffering.” Days later, Kirstie seemingly responded to her critics in a tweet on Saturday, Oct. 7. “I’ve found if you are going to offer a criticism you should accompany it with a solution instead of just carping..:) ????,” she wrote.

It is believed that the gunman committed suicide shortly after shooting at the crowd of 22,000 from the window of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. This massacre, which stunned the nation and became America’s deadliest mass shooting, also came as a shock to the gunman’s brother Eric, who spoke to CBS News following the incident.

“We have no idea how this happened. It’s like an asteroid just fell on top of our family,” Eric, 55, said of his brother. “There is no reason we can imagine why Stephen would do something like this. All we can do is send our condolences to the people who died. Just no reason, no warning.”
