Kourtney Kardashian received backlash over the weekend when she posted pics of her kids, Penelope, 4, and Reign, 2, sitting atop a Mercedes G-Wagon on Instagram.
“Rolling into the weekend like...” the reality star captioned one of the photos, while quoting a Kanye West song next to another: “Mayonnaise-colored Benz, I push Miracle Whips.”
Some followers called out the 37-year-old for openly flaunting her wealth online just five months after her younger sister Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris.
“And I thought you were the one with most class,” one commenter wrote, while another said, “No wonder you guys get robbed. Just keep showing off what you have and keep getting robbed.”
Kim previously admitted that the thieves most likely followed her every move via social media, knowing when she’d be alone in her hotel room. The mother-of-two also wasn’t shy about showing off her expensive jewelry — particularly her $4.5 million engagement ring — on platforms like Snapchat.
The $122,000 car featured in Kourt’s latest shots actually belongs to her ex, Scott Disick, who also posted a pic of son Reign chillin’ on the hood. “Little monster,” the 33-year-old captioned the post.
Shortly after Kim’s terrifying ordeal, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld criticized the famous family’s penchant for flaunting their expensive trinkets. “If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room,” he said. “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”
In a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim described one of the interactions she had with a masked man. “He demanded with a strong French accent my ring. It was on the bedside table,” she recalled. “I told him that I didn’t know [where it was], he took out a gun and I showed him the ring.”
