LeAnn Rimes On Affair With Eddie Cibrian: I Wish I Handled It Differently (VIDEO)

LeAnn Rimes is coming clean about her affair with now husband Eddie Cibrian following several recent Twitter wars with his ex Brandi Glanville.

When the pair met on the set of the TV movie Northern Lights in 2009, LeAnn and Eddie began seeing each other. But there was a slight issue: LeAnn was in a seven year marriage with Dean Sheremet while The Playboy Club actor was married to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star.

"I wish I handled it differently because I wish it could've been better for me, for Brandi, for Dean, for Eddie and for everyone else," she told Giuliana Rancic in the E! Special: LeAnn Rimes, which aired last night.

“I never ever in my heart want to hurt anyone,” she added. “I don’t think anything can separate anything that’s super connected.”

But the country singer, who also discussed her 30-day stint in rehab to treat stress and anxiety, goes on to try and justify her and Eddie’s actions.

“You might have had so many wonderful things in your relationship but something along the way broke that,” she says. “You can’t break what’s broken already.”

Shortly after responding to Giuliana’s tough question, "Why act on it, when you’re both married and you both have families?” the 30-year-old broke down.

“No one will ever understand how much thought and hurt were put into our decision to end (our) respective marriages,” she tearfully added.

At one point, Eddie comforted his wife as he sat next to her. "My heart goes out to her every single time she's getting bashed for something," he says. "It's unfair for her and it's unfair for us. [The affair] wasn't frivolous, you know."

Eddie and LeAnn both divorced and remarried in April 2011. As for LeAnn’s relationship with Brandi, who has two sons Mason, 9, and Jake, 5, with ex Eddie, it hasn’t been peachy with the pair's recent Twitter feuds. And she’s certainly not too keen on her children being shown on LeAnn’s E! Special last night.

“My kids can be on a E news special apparently but not in the background of the show I am on?” Brandi tweeted late last night. “Amazing!”
