<p><span></span>The stars came out in full force last night to support <a href="http://dynamic.bauerpublishing.com/mt-search.fcgi?blog_id=2&tag=michelle obama&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=2"><strong>Michelle Obama</strong></a> at an NYC fundraiser for her hubby President <a href="http://dynamic.bauerpublishing.com/mt-search.fcgi?blog_id=2&tag=barack obama&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=2"><strong>Barack Obama</strong></a>'s reelection bid.</p>
And although they were there for a serious reason, the night did not go without some jokes from the first lady.
Noting the throng of NYPD and Secret Service keeping watch over the party at Locanda Verde, she said: "One day I'd like to be able to just stroll through the front lobby and get a drink at the bar."
"It was funny," an eyewitness who was at the event tells Life & Style. "I think she knows that day won't be for a while!"
New mama Beyoncé joined Michelle at the glamorous affair with her sister Solange and mom Tina Knowles. Ben Stiller, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, Star Jones and Gayle King were also among the crowd.
And although it was a celebrity-filled event, Michelle didn't make a beeline for the A-listers.
"She posed for pictures with select donors who held a special ticket and paid a lot of money to be photographed with her instead," the first eyewitness tells Life & Style.
Even next to the luminous first lady, Blue Ivy's mama -- who just announced she'd be performing for the first time since giving birth at Atlantic City's Revel Resorts in New Jersey over Memorial Day weekend -- stole just a little of the spotlight.
"Beyoncé looked stunning in a body hugging dress that really accentuated her curves," another eyewitness tells Life & Style. "I can't believe she had a baby just two months ago!"
