Burglars broke into the home of Melissa Rycroft and her, hubby Tye Strickland, recently, and Melissa tells Life & Style that the thieves stole the irreplaceable: baby photos of the couple's 14-month-old daughter, Ava.
"We'd come back from Dallas to celebrate Ava's birthday, and the place had been burgled," the former Bachelor star confides to Life & Style. "Drawers had been opened, and when I saw the lingerie drawer open, I said, 'We didn't do that; someone's been in here.' My computer, iPads and jewelry were missing...and the computer had every picture on it."
"No [I didn't backup Ava's pictures]," she adds.
But foremost, Melissa says she's thankful that she, Tye and Ava were out at the time. "[Now] I have a better security system," she explains. "And at least we weren't there, and no one was hurt. They haven't come back."
Aside from the precious photos of Ava, the thieves also stole something else very dear to Melissa's heart: "Tye bought me a diamond cross necklace when we got married, and they got that," Melissa tells Life & Style.
With Melissa's new reality show, Melissa & Tye, in the middle of filming its first season for CMT, the 29-year-old says she's unsure whether the producers will use the footage from right after the burglary.
"The show was filming then, but I don't know whether it'll be used or not," she says.
Before marrying Tye in Mexico in 2009 and welcoming Ava on Feb. 16, 2011, Melissa had been famously engaged to The Bachelor's Jason Mesnick. Those two eventually ended their relationship after Jason revealed he had feelings for runner-up Molly Malaney, to whom he is now married.
