Plot twist. Right before American Idol contestants Caleb Lee Hutchinson and winner Maddie Poppe performed their duet of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" — the Top 2 duo made a bombshell announcement: they are dating.

Caleb, who described Maddie as his best friend, revealed how they have been close since meeting during Hollywood week. And unlike their fellow contestants Cade Foehner and Gabby Barrett, who are also dating, they managed to keep their relationship under wraps until the finale. As expected, the judges and viewers shocked by the American Idol love connection.

"MADDIE POPPE AND CALEB LEE ARE DATING AND ARE UP AGAINST EACH OTHER TO BE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL UM OK I CANT EVEN GET A BOY TO LOOK AT ME OK IM CRYING," one fan tweeted enthusiastically. Another added, "Breaking news and spoiler alert folks… Maddie Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson are a couple and competing for title of American Idol!"

Host Ryan Seacrest was also all of us when he revealed he "was in tears" following their performance. And to make their relationship official, he revealed that the network is sending Caleb and Maddie on a vacation to Hawaii. Seriously, are they relationship goals or what?

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that fellow contestants Cade and Gabby were a couple — and Gabby, who made it to the Top 3 couldn't help but gush about her boyfriend. "I was so happy that the Top 10 could be back there with us,” Gabby told Hollywood Life after the show. "Because everyone is so close. To have [Cade] back was definitely a comforting feeling. He kept me calm."

She continued, "He is like a little rock throughout this. He is a sweetheart and I don’t know what I would do without him on this journey." Looks like there was more than one winner on this season of American Idol!
