Since losing 277 lbs. after lap-band surgery, Matt Diaz has become used to receiving compliments left and right. But as an advocate of body positivity, he's not about to hide his true self: which includes a lot of excess skin.

Beginning his weight-loss journey in 2009 at the age of 16, the now 22-year-old was originally scared to show his dedicated followers what he looked like underneath his clothes. But in an emotional video confession, he sheds his shirt to show the side no one ever talks about.
"I'm scared people won't think I'm attractive anymore," he says. “I’m scared all the nice messages will stop."

Despite his fears, the video has been shared thousands of times and a GoFundMe page that Diaz set up for skin removal surgery has already met its goal in one day!
While he waits to undergo the procedure, Diaz, who at his heaviest weighed 497 lbs., is determined to remain positive. “Things you can’t change and can’t fix you have to make peace with,” he says. “I’m trying, I really am, and that’s why I’m showing all of you this.”
