The couple first met in 2005 at the Teen Choice Awards, when Nick presented the iconic singer with a surfboard. The tale goes that Nick already had a crush on his future wife at that point but that they spent the next three years getting to know each other as friends.

April 2008

After six weeks of dating, Mariah and Nick tied the knot at Mariah's private island in the Bahamas. The couple managed to hide the nuptials from the press by casting Nick as the love interest in Mariah's music video for "Bye, Bye, Bye" and disguising the ceremony as part of the video shoot.

July 2009

Everything was rosy for the Carey-Cannons a year after their wedding. Mariah's hubby even made an appearance with her on set of The Today Show to show the crowed a little newlywed PDA.

The Cannon family welcomed two more additions, as twins Monroe and Moroccan were born in April. The couple immediately made waves with fans when they revealed their nickname for the children: "dem babies."

Every year, Nick and Mariah renewed their wedding vows with an over-the-top, elaborate ceremony. One year after welcoming their twins, the couple celebrated in Paris, overlooking a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower.

When rumors start circulating that Mariah is cheating on Nick with rapper Nas, Nick is quick to deny that anything is going south in their marriage.

"It's amazing to me when I hear that stuff," he told Howard Stern on his Sirius XM radio show. "It'd be very difficult to make me jealous. I'm probably one of those dudes that's really secure in my relationship."

After over six years together, Nick files for divorce from Mariah.

October 2016

After years of being separated, Mariah and Nick reunited to share Halloween with their kids in October 2016.

A month later, the couple finally reached a divorce settlement, which called for joint custody (though Mariah retained primary custody) and a rare clause that specified that Monroe and Morrocan are never allowed to refer to any other parental figures as "mom," "dad," or any variation of.

The settlement also states that Nick has to contribute $5,000 a month to a trust for the twins.
