Fifty years ago, Mary Poppins premiered in theaters and thrilled audiences with its captivating story about a magical nanny, a dysfunctional family and a charming chimney-sweep named Bert.
Today, we honor the critically acclaimed and beloved Disney classic by taking a look back at the film's cast, including Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and Karen Dotrice, and sharing their stories of success since they sang and danced into our hearts in Mary Poppins.
Julie, 81, was just 30-years-old when she landed the role of magical nanny Mary Poppins and later won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. She has since starred in many other films — including The Sound of Music, The Princess Diaries, Despicable Me and Shrek Forever After — and was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
