Matt Damon, who co-starred with Robin Williams in the 1997 flick Good Will Hunting, has issued an endearing statement about the passing of his friend.
“Robin brought so much joy into my life and I will carry that joy with me forever,” he said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 12. “He was such a beautiful man. I was lucky to know him and I will never, ever forget him.”
He added, “I truly hope the people in the media can find it within themselves to give his family some privacy during this horrible time.”

Hours before Matt’s beautiful words, Ben Affleck, who also starred in the Oscar-winning film, shared his heartbreaking farewell to the man who made a great impact on their lives.
“Heartbroken. Thanks chief - for your friendship and for what you gave the world. Robin had a ton of love in him. He personally did so much for so many people. He made Matt and my dreams come true,” he wrote in a Facebook post, adding, “What do you owe a guy who does that? Everything. May you find peace my friend. #RobinWilliams.”

In the critically acclaimed movie, which was written by the two young actors, Matt portrayed Will Hunting, a janitor from Boston with a secret gift for mathematics. Ben starred as his best friend, Chuckie Sullivan, and Robin played Sean Maguire, the psychologist who guides Will and changes his outlook on life.
The trio won their first Oscars together for the drama. Robin won for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the guys (who were only in their mid-20s at the time) nabbed Best Original Screenplay.

Robin died on Monday, Aug. 11 from asphyxia due to hanging. He is survived by his wife, Susan Schneider and his three children, sons Zak, 31, and Cody, 22, and daughter Zelda, 25.
