So how does a girl go from being told she needs to shed a few pounds to being dubbed the Naomi Campbell of plus-size models?! Ask Liris Crosse!
Thanks to her 5-foot-11 stature, cat-like eyes and gorgeous complexion, Crosse, 32, didn't have a problem getting callbacks from agencies. But she didn't necessarily like what she heard once meeting with them.

"They all loved me but wanted me to lose weight," the then size six Baltimore native says in a new interview. But even after she signed with an agency, the weight issue kept coming up. So she decided to break out on her own!
Representing herself, Crosse's confidence and poise landed her spots in 'Essence' and 'Honey' magazines and eventually got brands like 'Glamour' and 'Seventeen' to take notice, too.

As a longtime admirer of modeling icon Naomi, Crosse, who's now a size 14, was thrilled to be compared to the legend, soon earning the nickname 'Naomi of Plus.'

"I want to continue to change the industry by inspiring women to follow their dreams, helping to represent a different body type other than straight size," she tells the 'Daily Mail.'
Crosse has also dabbled in music videos, landing a featured role in Jay Z's 1999 vid 'Do It Again' (scroll to 1:50 to see here, she's in the gold dress!)
