You may have noticed that Megyn Kelly is in amazing shape — and that’s all thanks to the F-Factor diet! The high fiber-based regimen was founded by dietitian Tanya Zuckerbrot in 2007, and it allows you to continue eating, drinking alcohol, and doesn’t require a ton of exercise. That sounds pretty easy to us!

In an exclusive interview with Tanya, Life & Style was able to understand how exactly the diet works. “F-Factor is based on four meals every day: breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner that combine fiber and protein in each meal. That’s pretty important,” she shared. “Our clients also learn that your muscles are where you store carbohydrates, so if you are losing muscle mass, not only are you slowing down your metabolism, but you’re not going to be able to eat carbs at the end of that weight loss experience without weight gain.”

Tanya, an NYU alum and mother-of-three, went on to explain the importance of making sure one has carbs while sticking with a high-fiber and protein eating plan. “You absolutely should be eating carbs or you feel exhausted, depleted of energy, tired, weak, cranky — and we don’t want that,” she explained. “We absolutely encourage our clients to dine out from day one. Our clients work hard and play hard, and they worked hard for their lifestyles. They don’t want to sacrifice that in order to lose weight.”

Another factor that draws many to this health trend is that alcohol doesn’t have to be eliminated. “Red and white wine have anywhere between one to three grams of carbs, maybe four if it’s a sweeter wine per glass — so our clients know they can drink responsibly and that they can consume one to four glasses of wine per night, or one to four ounces of spirits — whatever they feel like they need, they just have to be mindful about sugar mixers or tonic,” Tanya said. “I joke with clients that without the sugary mixers, it actually slows down your ability to drink it because it’s so strong. I’ve had clients find they’re actually drinking less because the sugary mixers aren’t diluting the taste, so when you sip a martini it’s so strong. Two martinis does the job of four vodka cranberries.”

And even though you have the freedom to eat and drink what you like on this diet, don’t expect to spend all your free time in the gym. “You don’t have to work out seven days a week. You can work out two or three days a week to maintain muscle mass and allow F-Factor to be your cardio,” the founder revealed. “For many people, it’s about creating a caloric deficit. F-Factor does that every day without you breaking a sweat, so let F-Factor melt the fat away. What we want our F-Factor followers to commit to are weight-resistant activities two to three times a week to maintain muscle mass so that they can be lean and strong.” Anyone interested can purchase the F-Factor books online and download their app, which will be here in 2018. Not going to lie — we are totally about to sign up for this!
