‘Jersey Shore’ Star Mike Sorrentino Is Officially Engaged to His Ride or Die Girlfriend, Lauren Pesce!
She's his ride or die for life! Fans are getting to see a whole different side to Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino during Season 1 of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. The king of GTL is completely clean and sober this time around — and he's been giving fans life with his new hobby of snacking and staying out of the drama — but he's also not single… he's engaged! On April 26, after an incredibly sweet episode of JS, he revealed to fans that he's popped the question to girlfriend Lauren Pesce, and she said yes.
The proposal announcement on Instagram came with plenty of puns. "GYM TAN WE’RE ENGAGED!! ????," "THE FUTURE MR & MRS SITUATION," and "current situation ?," were all used alongside snaps from their sweet shoreside photoshoot. They look SO happy, and we couldn't be happier for them!
“I have always dreamed of proposing on Jersey Shore, the show that introduced me to the world,” Sorrentino told Us about popping the question on MTV’s hit reality show Jersey Shore. “I’m currently living the dream and proposed to my college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, amongst my best friends on the biggest reality show in the country. We are so proud and excited to share this chapter of our story with the world.”
Mike has been in a relationship with his girlfriend Lauren for the better part of the past decade, but there's a very big reason why fans weren't introduced to Lauren during the previous six seasons of Jersey Shore. Mike and Lauren met as college sweethearts and they dated for four years. But they broke up and Mike went on to join the cast of Jersey Shore in 2009, which is why he was single and ready to mingle throughout his time on the series. But when the show went off the air in 2012, Mike and Lauren were able to rekindle their relationship and they have been together ever since — and they even had a stint together on a previous season of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.
But Mike's previous stint on Jersey Shore came with its fair share of baggage — by the time the show was over, Mike was in the throes of his alcohol addiction. On top of that, just two years after the show wrapped, Mike was charged with one count of conspiracy and two counts of filing false tax returns and he's still dealing with those legal issues now. But on a recent episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, Mike opened up about his girlfriend and he gushed over how Lauren stayed by his side throughout all of the bad situations in his life.
"She's my only real relationship I ever had," Mike said, and explained that she helped him to get sober. "She stuck by me the whole time. She just made me a better person.
