We all know how much Miranda Lambert loves dogs, but what we didn’t know was how emotionally connected she is with homeless dogs.
In a video posted by Pedigree, the country music star shares her story about saving her hometown animal shelter in Tishomingo, OK.
“I feel like they love you for you, you know? That’s why I have six,” Miranda says about dogs.

With the help of Pedigree and Miranda’s MuttNation Foundation, 50 people from all over the country came to the Tishomingo Animal Shelter to help build a play area for the dogs. They’ve also donated 20 million pounds of food since 2008.
Miranda’s efforts with the shelter go beyond improving the dog's life. In 2012, she and husband Blake Shelton were the main cause behind changing the shelter’s policy of putting down dogs three days after residence. Also, in 2014, her non-profit organization donated $253,660 to animal shelters in each of the 50 states.
“I’ve already cried like four times. It’s all about those dogs in those enclosures that need a home,” Miranda says in the video. “When I came here there was nothing.”
