Monica Lewinsky Slams HLN Over Upcoming Special Detailing Her “Scandal” With Bill Clinton

When Monica Lewinsky caught wind of HLN’s upcoming special about her controversial affair with former President Bill Clinton, she wasted no time taking to Twitter to offer alternative titles for the show — which, according to the network’s website, is called The Clinton-Lewinsky Scandal. The former White House intern, 44, suggested that HLN remove her name from the title entirely.

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, Monica posted a screenshot of an article about the special, which is part of HLN’s true crime series How It Really Happened with Hill Harper, and crossed out the title with two new options: "The Starr Investigation" or "The Clinton Impeachment.” "Fixed it for you," she tweeted. "You're welcome.”

Of course, Monica is referring to Kenneth Starr, the independent counsel whose investigation led to Bill's impeachment trial. Bill, now 71, was eventually acquitted by Congress for his indiscretions with Monica, which came to light in 1998 when she was only 22 years old. While he initially lied about the affair and said he “did not have sexual relations with that woman Miss Lewinsky,” Bill later admitted to cheating on his wife, Hillary Clinton, with the young Washington hopeful.

According to a press release from HLN, The Clinton-Lewinsky Scandal will detail “the shocking affair that nearly toppled a presidency” and will feature interviews with former Clinton advisers, White House journalists, and more who were privy to previously unknown information about Bill and Monica’s headline-making dalliance.

Despite speculation that her relationship with Bill was abusive, Monica has vehemently insisted that her interaction with the 42nd POTUS was completely consensual. "Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship," she explained in a 2014 Vanity Fair article. "Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position.”

The Clinton-Lewinsky Scandal airs on HLN Sunday, Dec. 3, at 9 p.m. EST.
