Nastia Liukin and Fiancé Matt Lombardi Are Focusing on Their New Company, Not Wedding Planning ATM (EXCLUSIVE)
Fans were thrilled when Nastia Liukin announced her engagement to Matt Lombardi back in June 2015 — however, the power couple isn’t focused on wedding planning! During an exclusive interview with Life & Style, the Olympic gymnast and Dancing With the Stars alum revealed she and her fiancé are working on another big project before walking down the aisle.
“Not yet!” Nastia replied when asked if the couple set a date. “Probably next year — but we’re super excited.” The blonde beauty went on to explain that she and Matt are busy with their new app, Grander. “[It’s] been really fun,” she shared. “It’s an app to inspire the next generation of female athletes, and especially with what’s going on right now in not just gymnastics, but kind of the whole world, it’s super important to create this place where young girls have a voice and have a place where they feel safe to have a voice.”
According to the Apple store’s description, users “can connect and communicate with [mentors], learn valuable lessons for their sport, and receive exclusive content.” Nastia added of the app, “The platform has been really awesome in that way, but also inspires them to be the best person they could be. That’s been really fun and heartwarming because of what’s going on all over and in different industries across the board.”
After the entrepreneur popped the question with a custom-designed ring, the 28-year-old athlete took fans inside the surprise proposal. “[Matt] told me we were going to celebrate together and to my surprise my parents, best friend and his family and best friend were waiting there to celebrate with us. We are both so excited for our future together,” she told E! News at the time.
