He might be a Backstreet Boy, but he also cares about the environment! In an attempt to help spread awareness of going green, Nick Carter has joined forces with Global Green USA. While traveling with the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block on their NKOTBSB tour this summer, Nick gathered signatures from all members of both groups on a pair of his favorite sneakers in an attempt to help fund efforts in creating a healthy and promising future for generations to come.

Nick -- who recently released the first single, "Just One Kiss," off his second solo album, I'm Taking Off -- is now auctioning off the autographed sneakers! On Sept. 12, Nick's kicks hit eBay at the starting bid of $100 (and the price is already over $2,000!). The auction, which ends on Sept. 18 at 11:55 a.m. PST, gives fans an opportunity to support the green cause and purchase a piece of memorabilia from their favorite boy bands. And Nick's not the only celebrity supporting Global Green USA. Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo are just three of the stars who are active with the cause.
So what is Global Green USA exactly? It's the only national environmental nonprofit organization headquartered in Southern California with offices in New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and New York. It helps to address some of the greatest challenges facing humanity. The main purpose in America is to focus on fighting global climate change through green affordable housing initiatives, National Green Schools Initiative, national and regional green building policies, advocacy and education.
UPDATE: Nick's shoe auction closed on the morning of Sept. 16 with a whopping $16,100! All proceeds will benefit Global Green USA organization. Congratulations Nick!
