After less than a year working alongside President Donald Trump, Omarosa Manigault is quitting her White House job. The former Apprentice star has resigned from her position as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, and will be leaving in January.

“Omarosa Manigault Newman resigned yesterday to pursue other opportunities,” a statement reads. “Her departure will not be effective until Jan. 20, 2018. We wish her the best in future endeavors and are grateful for her service.” But there are other theories as to why Omarosa is stepping down. According to the Daily Mail, the former reality star quit due to the president’s endorsement of controversial Alabama politician Roy Moore. “After Roy Moore, enough was enough,” an aide said.

However, another source claimed she was actually fired by the President and was escorted off the White House grounds Tuesday night. “Why would you be planning Black History Month events if you were going to resign after Roy Moore?” the source asked. Her dismissal comes as a shock to many — especially after she staunchly defended her boss during his campaign.

“I am aware of the perceptions. But [Trump] is open-minded: He does not judge people on their gender or race. He judges them on their ability to do the job,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “Truly, I am living the American dream because of Donald Trump. Look at my career, the wealth and exposure that I’ve had: It’s very difficult to make the argument that Donald Trump doesn’t like Black people and Black women.”

She continued, “Look to his past to see what he will do for women in this country. I believe he will empower women and have them shatter the glass ceiling.” It has also been reported that four more aides will follow Omarosa out of the White House, but no names have been released.
