The other victim in the car crash that killed actor Paul Walker yesterday has been identified as Roger Rodas, a retired race car driver turned CEO of a car customization shop called Always Evolving.
The first known public ID of Roger came on a radio show in Santa Clarita, Calif., which is where the accident took place. A local resident with knowledge of the case reportedly identified Roger as the person who'd been driving the car. "Him and his buddy, his brother in heart Roger, they decided to joyride, take a spin, something that we all do," a friend of Rodas' told ABC.
Breaking: 'Fast and Furious' Actor Paul Walker Dead at Age 40
The two men had become friends through the car community, which Paul had gotten involved with after working on the Fast and Furious movie franchise. Paul owned several high-end cars, including the Porsche he and Roger were in yesterday. According to witnesses who saw the accident, the Porsche went off the road, hit something (either a pole or a tree), and then caught on fire.
Roger had also gotten involved in his friend's charity. Paul's organization, Reach Out Worldwide, organized first responders after natural disasters. The men were on their way back from a charity car show raising money for victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines when they got in the accident.
Our thoughts go out to the Rodas family and to Roger's friends and loved ones.
