Today might be Mason and Reign Disick‘s birthdays, but Penelope Disick is stealing the spotlight from her brothers. The five-year-old stepped out with mom Kourtney Kardashian rocking purple hair. Penelope looked adorable with the brightly colored locks — and completed her look with a black t-shirt and camo sweatpants.

While we are seriously obsessed with the most likely temporary dye job, a lot of Kardashian fans are upset that Kourtney colored her daughter’s hair. “Isn’t Penelope’s hair blonde? Why is she changing her daughter’s hair color for? You shouldn’t color children’s hair, it could wreck it and cause the hair to split,” one fan commented. Watch the video below to see P’s pink hair!

However, this is not the first time Kourt has been mom shamed for letting Penelope experiment with her hair. Last year, Penelope and cousin North West rocked hair extensions while on a family vacation and fans were furious. One follower called the hairstyle “absolutely disgraceful” while another wrote, “Has North West got extensions in?!!! What is the world coming to!”

Kourtney, 38, defends her parenting style — and has always been open about her laid-back approach. “Kim and I… I feel like we will bicker,” she told The New Potato. “It’s not even bickering; we just have different ways of doing things. So even if it’s things with our kids, we’ll talk to each other about it. I’ll say, ‘I think I want to do this, this way,’ and then she wants to do something that way.”

She continued, “I was like, ‘People used to have babies in caves; it’s going to be okay.'” Kourtney also has some good advice for new moms. “Don’t worry if your diaper bag isn’t perfectly packed with all the things you need. As time went on, I started to just leave the house without it. I would bring the essentials or just throw a couple things in my purse instead of this huge thing, with blankets and extra sweaters,” she added. “I was like ‘Let’s just live life and not carry a million things around.’ I think it’s about staying calm and trusting your instincts.”
