We guess we weren’t the only ones who drank excessive amounts of wine following Peter Kraus and Rachel Lindsay‘s heartbreaking split on The Bachelorette. Peter confessed he turned to the bottle after their breakup on the reality dating competition.

“When I got off Rachel’s season, I was devastated,” the personal trainer told Entertainment Tonight. “When I watched her walk away for that last time, I asked if I could go after her and I think I knew in my heart that it wasn’t the right decision to do that. So, it just faded away at that point… and I drank an entire bottle of wine by myself.”

We can’t say we blame Peter, 31, for drinking away his sorrows — especially after it was announced he would not be the next Bachelor. It was revealed that race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr., from Emily Maynard’s season, would be handing out roses next year, and Peter admitted he passed on the gig. “I’m a sensitive guy… I accept it and I appreciate it and that just makes me more hyper aware of the surroundings I’m in and The Bachelor is a big, big step that I wasn’t ready for.”

However, despite the fact that he feels he got no closure with Rachel, 32, he denies reaching out to her after the *After the Final Rose_ special. “When it ended, it ended. I knew that she got engaged to Bryan [Abasolo] that very next day and that crushed me.”

Meanwhile, Rachel is already thinking about having babies with her fiance. “Rachel can’t wait to start a family with Bryan, and he’s more than ready to be a father,” a source told Life & Style. “His wanting to have kids was definitely something she considered in choosing him over Peter. They both are so excited.”

The insider continued, “Rachel has her mind set on having four kids. She wants an even mix of girls and boys.”
