Season 3 of the Netflix hit The Crown will introduce Camilla Parker Bowles, producer Suzanne Mackie recently revealed. That’s exciting for fans of the romantic drama, but it’s terrifying to Camilla’s husband, Prince Charles. “Charles is having sleepless nights over it,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “He can’t seem to escape his past and is feeling anxious about what The Crown will divulge.”

Charles, 69, and Camilla, 70, first dated when they were in their 20s, and their affair years later while Charles was married to Princess Diana turned into a massive scandal that many in the U.K. haven’t forgotten…or forgiven. Of course, Camilla isn’t nearly as beloved as the late Diana — who died in August 1997 at age 36 in a fatal Paris car crash — was during her tenure at the palace.

“The next season of The Crown will reveal what went on behind closed doors with Camilla and Charles, and in his turbulent marriage to Diana,” says the insider, adding that Camilla isn’t as concerned as her spouse, whom she finally wed in April 2005. “Charles is worried,” says the source. However, “Camilla is relishing becoming a key character on the show!”

While Camilla excitedly awaits her story line to play out on The Crown, Charles remains riddled with anxiety. He is “worried that the public will turn against him again,” the insider tells Life & Style. Season 3 of The Crown is currently in production. Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date, although the BBC previously reported that it should hit the streaming service sometime in 2019.
