Fans of The Real Housewives of New York City will recall the awkward conversation between Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and her 17-year-old daughter, Victoria, on the June 17 episode of the Bravo series. LuAnn divulged the plans she and her boyfriend of three years, Jacques Azoulay, had just made: "The two of us are thinking about the possibility of...having a baby," LuAnn told the teenager.
LuAnn sat down exclusively with Life & Style on June 21 -- several months after the conversation with Victoria had been taped -- opening up about her plan for another baby. "We'd love for it to happen," she confides in the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now. "I know Jacques would be a great father."
But after LuAnn, 47, was told by her doctor that her chances of having a baby are less than 5 percent, she decided to take steps to increase the odds. "After seeing my doctor, I started going to a fertility center in New York City that specializes in acupuncture, Chinese medicine and massage," she reveals to Life & Style. "Apparently, acupuncture increases your chances by like 50 percent."
And while her Housewives co-stars might question whether LuAnn is ready to give up her socialite life in favor of changing diapers and 3 a.m. feedings, she's thought about it a lot. "I've been back and forth about the whole thing over and over," admits LuAnn, who also has a 15-year-old son, Noel. "But for me, the advantages of having another child and having a life with Jacques and being able to have a family with him outweigh the disadvantages."
"The great thing about being in your 40s these days is that there are options," LuAnn says softly. "I feel very lucky because of that."
