See Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and More of ‘The Revenant’ Cast on Their First Red Carpet!

It took Leonardo DiCaprio getting mauled by a bear in The Revenant to finally walk away with his much-deserved Oscar.

However, the 42-year-old has been acting in Hollywood for decades before finally being honored at the 2016 Academy Awards, where the Alejandro González Iñárritu-directed film walked away with a total of three awards.

"There were so many monumental undertakings in this film; we could talk at great length at the bear sequence, the horse sequence, the bison sequence, the rapids sequence, fighting with Tom Hardy, who is like a bear in his own right," Leonardo told Variety of his tough role as Hugh Glass. "We would rehearse all day long, and every single department needed to work like a Swiss watch… But sometimes it was just 'Glass walks up a hill' — and the bear fur weighs 120 pounds wet, and I’m freezing my ass off, and it became some of the most difficult stuff to do in the movie."

Leonardo has definitely come a long way since playing Luke Brower on the '90s sitcom Growing Pains — and so have his co-stars, Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson.
