Five months ago, Matt Lauer was abruptly fired from Today following sexual harassment allegations. Many might think he strained his relationships with his many co-stars at the morning talk show, but his replacement, Hoda Kotb, just revealed that she and his former co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, actually still talk to Matt today.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if they're still in touch with the disgraced journalist, Hoda replied, "Yeah, we keep in touch with him. I mean look, this is one of those complex situations. I've known him since I started working at NBC [in 1998]. When I was sick with breast cancer, he was the first to call. He helps and helped in ways that… you know, he was incredible in that way. There is that Matt and then there's the Matt that the accusers speak of. And those accusers' voices matter and that story matters." She then looked to Savannah and said,"It's still tough though, right?" to which Savannah replied, "Yes."

A source previously told Entertainment Tonight that Savannah was "affected the most" from Matt Lauer's firing, which is understandable since she sat next to him on live television for five years prior to his termination. "We had a really great and close relationship with Matt. He was our friend and colleague," the 46-year-old said in an interview with USA Today in February.

In fact, she was the brave one who announced his termination to the world. "This is a sad morning at NBC News… We just learned this moments ago. Just this morning. As I’m sure you can imagine, we are devastated and we are still processing all of this," she said in late November. "We woke up to the news that was shocking, just like everyone who turned on the show every day. Man, it’s hard to get through something like that. We all try to keep our eye on the ball and try to manage this the best we can."

Luckily for Savannah, though, she's found a good thing with her new co-anchor Hoda. She even admitted that she didn't have to advocate for her to fill Matt's seat. "I didn't have to because everyone agreed. I mean, maybe this will never happen before, since or ever again, but it was a complete and total meeting of the minds. Like 'Hey, this seems to be working great. Are you happy?'" she gushed. "'Yeah, I'm happy, are you happy?' 'I'm happy. Let's all do this, we're all happy.'" We're certainly happy with the new Today dynamic as well!
