<p><span></span>Actor and activist <a href="http://dynamic.bauerpublishing.com/mt-search.fcgi?blog_id=2&tag=george clooney&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=2"><strong>George Clooney</strong></a> and his father, <a href="http://dynamic.bauerpublishing.com/mt-search.fcgi?blog_id=2&tag=nick clooney&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=2"><strong>Nick</strong></a>, were handcuffed and arrested in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Friday morning. The Clooneys were among demonstrators protesting violence in Sudan.</p>
"Other members of the group were saying, 'We're getting arrested today,'" local news cameraman Kevin Johnson tells Life & Style. "The Secret Service agents gave three warnings before they started arresting people. They used plastic cuffs on George and took him away in a van. He was definitely calm and said [before getting in the van], 'We're going to keep doing this!'"
George was arrested for "disorderly crossing of a police line, which is a misdemeanor," a Secret Service representative tells Life & Style. "He's being booked at 2nd district Metropolitan police station."
Before his arrest, George spoke to a group that had gathered at the protest. He discussed the Sudanese government's violence and asked for the government "to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them, and stop starving them."
"When George first came up to the group, he was saying hello and greeting everyone," Kevin, who suspects George wanted to be arrested, tells Life & Style. "But when he spoke to the crowd and went up on the steps, he was very serious."
On March 14, George, 50, testified before Congress about the violence in Sudan, calling it "a campaign of murder."
Sadly, Stacy Keibler, won't be able to bail out her boyfriend -- she's in Barcelona on business. We won't see George's mug shot, either. The Secret Service rep tells Life & Style that the agency doesn't release such pictures.
