The heart wants what it wants. After just 10 months of dating, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) have split. Fans of the singers definitely did not see the breakup coming, Selena's Sunday morning breakfast with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber was one major hint there was trouble in paradise.
One day after her reunion with the Biebs, the couple made it official. However, sources are adamant their decision to part ways was not influenced by Justin. "She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” an insider told People. “It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.”

The source continued, "It’s been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months." Hard is an understatement for Selena, 25, who also recently underwent a kidney transplant.
In a recent interview, Selena opened up about the "life or death" experience. "I started to attempt to fall asleep. And in the middle of that process I started hyperventilating and felt so much pain,” she said on the Today Show. “My teeth — I was grinding — I was freaking out. It was a six-hour surgery that they had to do on me and the normal kidney process is two hours. Apparently one of the arteries had flipped. I’m very grateful that there are people who know what to do in that situation.”
However, it seems her kidney transplant is what reconnected her with her ex, even if they aren't dating. "They've been texting, talking, and even making plans to meet up," a source told Life & Style exclusively. Keep watching the video below for more details.
