Selena Gomez and The Weeknd Make a Rare Appearance at New York Fashion Week
They’re still very much in love! Despite keeping their relationship on the DL for the most part, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd showed everyone at New York Fashion Week that they’re doing just great and are still very much obsessed with each other. While making a rare appearance on the red carpet together, Sel, 25, and her 27-year-old beau — whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye — packed on the smooches as they were photographed at Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party.
Sel donned a millennial pink mini dress and Twiggy-esque lashes, while her boyfriend opted for a tux with a studded lapel. The couple’s latest public appearance comes on the heels of reports that The Weeknd wants babies with Selena and that he’s itching to become a father.
“I feel like I’m the kind of guy that would have kids before getting married,” the musician has previously said in an interview with GQ. “The first thing would be kids. Marriage is scary to me, man.”
Despite the Grammy winner’s current hesitations about tying the knot, he’s clear he’s head-over-heels for his girlfriend of nearly eight months. The couple seems to be in a healthy, supportive relationship, he’s been promoting Selena’s new handbag line for Coach and Selena rocked a pair sneakers from his Puma collection.
And Abel’s not the only one feeling lovey-dovey vibes. Selena is also very much in love, proving it in an interview with InStyle, in which the singer positively gushed about her current relationship.
“I’ve wanted to be in a strong head space for years, and I really wasn’t,” she revealed. “Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I’d feel insecure. You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you if that makes sense. I’m lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else.”
