While Charlie Hunnam claims his “immersive” TV schedule is to blame for having to drop out of playing Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, his one-time Sons of Anarchy co-star Tom Arnold believes otherwise.
Tom visited Howard Stern’s radio show on Monday and dished on the shocking news. “I think he felt pressured. He had to have bodyguards all of a sudden to just live,” he said, adding that Charlie just wants to have a normal life.

Charlie, who plays Jax Teller on the hit FX series, abruptly exited the flick on Saturday.
But that wasn’t the only bump in the road for the movie, which is scheduled for release on Aug. 1, 2014.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Universal/Fox decided the script needed work, so they hired Oscar-nominated Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal) to freshen it up.

The deal happened Friday — one day before Charlie removed himself from the high-profile project. Rumors have been swirling that the script, which was originally penned by Kelly Marcel, might be the reason the actor decided to leave. But sources tell HR that “the polish by Marber is standard and the script is ready for a November start date, should the studio be able to find a new leading man in time.”
