First it was Starbucks' plain red holiday cups that were obviously created to wage a "war on Christmas." Now, it's the polar bear cookies with the slashed throats that's got the coffee mega-chain in hot water.
Twitter has been abuzz with photos of and comments about the cookies, which are shaped like polar bears with scarves made out of red icing around their necks.
Though the cookies haven't been available since 2010, some latte drinkers are in a tizzy because they say the scarves look like blood from where the bears' throats were slit.
Yes, you read that right. Sigh.
I gotta love Starbucks new cookies. A polar bear with it's throat slit? That's a holiday you don't forget. pic.twitter.com/huZrREQdDp— Philip Halloween (@evil_avatar) December 11, 2015

Last month, Starbucks released its plain red holiday cups with just the company logo on the outside, unwittingly setting off a controversy about how un-festive and anti-Christmas-y they were. Previous versions had snowflakes and other holiday symbols covering them.

Somehow we don't think the "bloody" polar bear cookies are going to help convince people that Starbucks is acknowledging the holiday the way it should.
But sheesh! Can't we just cut them a break, already?
