Nicki Minaj is known for her tough exterior, but even the "Starships" singer lets her emotions take over sometimes.
On last night's American Idol, the 30-year-old cried after Zoanette Johnson — a Liberian refugee — gave a powerful rendition of The Lion King's "Circle of Life".
"Zoanette, who gonna check you Boo? You just served it," an emotional Nicki told the hopeful. "Listen Zoanette, you make me so emotional, you came from Liberia, all those siblings, they are going to get a chance to see you on this show. I am so proud of you. So proud of you."

She continues, "I don't care what people say about you. You are the person we are going to remember after tonight. I'm so proud that this place gives people like you and people like me, who came from absolutely nothing, a place that we didn't think we'd make it out alive from, it gives us a chance. Thank you."
And she wasn't the only Idol judge to rant and rave about the aspiring singer. "Forget the king of the jungle, kudos to the queen of the jungle right there," Keith Urban shared, with Mariah Carey adding, "Your spirit is too big to contain."
Speaking of Mariah, Nicki recently revealed the pair are no longer feuding.

"All of that has been talked about. We had our differences, but it is all done with now, and we just get in there and do our job," she told Page Six.
For Nicki, it's all about the contestants now. "I'm getting closer to [them] as the competition goes on," she explained. "Seeing their parents makes you realize about how this is their dream and how we have to nurture them as much as we can."
Zoanette, Aubrey Cleland, Candice Glover, Breanna Steer and Janelle Arthur were all put through on the Feb. 27 show. They join Angela Miller, Tenna Torres, Adrianna Latonio, Amber Holcomb and Kree Harrison, who went through last week.
