Sixteen-year-old Abby Snider was diagnosed with leukemia just a year ago — and after her parents were hit with the hefty medical bills and struggled financially, they decided they couldn't afford a "Sweet 16" celebration for their sick child.
But that was before Tom Mitchell, the man behind StillBrave, which is a local cancer foundation, gathered Abby's entire town together to throw the teen a surprise party.

Local vendors donated food and flowers while Abby drove in a stretch limo to the party, thinking she was on her way to a fundraiser event for StillBrave.

It wasn't until she walked through the doors and saw all of her friends and family standing there that she broke down in tears of joy.

“Last night, I had the honor and privilege to participate in making a surprise Sweet Sixteen Dream Birthday Party a reality for a very sweet 16-year-old girl,” Mitchell wrote on Facebook. “The look on Abby’s face when she walked through the door was, well, there are no words in this language or any other to accurately describe that moment. Suffice it to say, I am a better man today for having been there to see it.”
“It was a beautiful moment, she had no idea that it was a surprise and that so many people were there for her," photographer Carolyn Rangel told 'Life & Style.' "I was crying and taking photos at the same time, her expression was amazing, I was so moved; she was truly surprised and happy tears came down her face.”
A very happy birthday to Abby!
