If watching KJ Apa every week on Riverdale makes you weak in the knees then you're in luck. The 20-year-old New Zealander is set to star in The Last Summer later this year. Deadline reports that the romantic-comedy "follows a group of high school grads whose lives intersect in Chicago over the summer before they start college."

So, basically, it's like if Archie's dad made him move to Illinois to finish out high school —safely away from the Black Hood — and he forgot all about Veronica… and Betty for that matter. Okay, consider us very much interested. There's no doubt that his already large fanbase will continue to grow after he shows off his comedic chops in the new flick. And we can't wait to see who will play his love interest!

Gulfstream Pictures partner Mike Karz and Wayne Rice will produce the movie. “KJ is one of today’s most talented and sought-after young stars both here and abroad, and we are excited to announce that he will lead our ensemble cast,” Mike said about the star. And, Twitter definitely agrees. "The new [Riverdale] episode has me shook. I love how you explore Archie's darkness, your technique is admirable and you have so much raw talent. Good luck in The Last Summer," one fan tweeted at KJ.

Another added, "I'm so proud of you for being cast in the last summer, you deserve so much recognition & success. You're a wonderful actor & you were incredible in tonight's episode. Thank you for always making me so happy & for being such a light in my life. You mean so much to me." The exciting news comes just days after it was announced that KJ's co-star, Cole Sprouse was cast in Five Feet Apart, a romantic drama from CBS Films. Romance must be in the air!
